About the villa

La Diouana was built by the French in the 1930s for use as a customs house (douane - diouana). It is located near the old kasbah of Oualidia, eight minutes' walk from the centre of town. It looks onto the grounds of a ruined summer palace built by King Mohammed V.

The villa has been restored using traditional Moroccan tadlakt, woodwork, filigree ironwork and stucco arches while retaining the 1930s French doors, windows, shutters, roof tiles and water tower. The rooms been furnished with every modern luxury.

We never had a holiday so long in the planning, so expectations were high. But La Diouana exceeded in every way. We loved the ever- changing tides and the opportunities for fun and play on the lagoon...  best of all, we were never too hot and lovely cool nights meant sound sleep for children.

The pool

Not one swimming pool, but two! La Diouana has an infinity pool as well as a paddling pool for toddlers. The water is warm enough for swimming from end-April to November. Sunbathing is possible all year round.
